The Mineralogy of Wales is diverse, with over 340 different mineral species being recorded, although in fact this constitutes only about 10% of the 3,500 or so minerals currently known to science from worldwide localities. Contained within the 146 pages of this book are descriptions of each of the mineral species so far identified in Wales, along with records of their distribution and modes of occurrence. The book is lavishly illustrated, with 111 colour and 6 black and white photographs of minerals and mineral localities, supplemented by 1 colour and 10 black and white maps.
RICHARD BEVINS is Assistant Keeper of Geology at the National Museum of Wales, and is Head of the Mineralogy/Petrology Section. He has researched extensively on the aspects of the mineralogy and petrology of Wales, and has published over 80 scientific articles.
The price is £25 (plus £2.50 postage and packing) inside the UK. Please contact the museum bookshop directly for information on price and availability outside the UK. Price and availability may be subject to change.
